Bible Study

Acts 8:29-31, 35 (NLT) 29 The Holy Spirit said to Philip, "Go over and walk along beside the carriage."
30 Philip ran over and heard the man reading from the prophet Isaiah; so he asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?"
31 The man replied, "How can I, when there is no one to instruct me?" And he begged Philip to come up into the carriage and sit with him.
35 So Philip began with this same Scripture and then used many others to tell him the Good News about Jesus.
Let’s keep our perspective here and understand a few things:
1) We are ordained by God to this. God is telling us to “Go”, the ride depends on us. Remember it is NOT God’s will that any one perish!
2) Philip ran to where the soul was. After Philip arrived, he asked a question. Do we go out of our way to greet the visitors? Do we run to them? We should. I think this is why this ministry scares some people.
3) How can the majority of souls understand what we are doing, what we are here in church for, if we don’t tell them? They can’t and they won’t unless someone tells them. These some ones are you and I.
4) The best part of it all comes next. Philip told him about Jesus. How awesome to know that we are here to present the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
1 Corinthians 9:16 (NLT) For preaching the Good News is not something I can boast about. I am compelled by God to do it. How terrible for me if I didn't do it!
